Top-seeded Radford stranded 10 runners and No. 2 Coastal Carolina hit a pair of two-run home runs as the Highlanders fell in the semifinals, 4-0, and was eliminated from 2012 Big South Softball Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting and Brookwood Farms Barbeque Saturday afternoon at RU Softball Field.

Hannah Ojeda's two-out walk-off single ended a 10-inning, three-hour affair as host and No. 1 Radford upended No. 5 Gardner-Webb, 1-0 in game 8 of the 2012 Big South Softball Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting and Brookwood Farms Barbeque Friday afternoon at RU Softball Field.

Jackie Jenkins tossed a three-hit shutout as top-seeded and host Radford scored eight two-out runs as it defeated No. 8 Winthrop, 8-0 in five innings in the Highlanders' opener of the 2012 Big South Softball Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting and Brookwood Farms Barbeque Thursday afternoon at RU Softball Field.

Senior shortstop Nichole Beall and junior hurler Jackie Jenkins repeated as Big South Softball Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, announced Wednesday evening at the 2012 softball awards banquet held at Radford University’s Dedmon Center. Their skipper, Mickey Dean, was tabbed the league’s coach of the year for the fourth straight season.

East Tennessee State scored a run in five separate innings to take an 8-4 decision over Radford in non-conference baseball action Wednesday evening from RU Baseball Field.  

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Daniel Wright drove in four two-out runs, Mark Peterson allowed just one run in 6 1/3 innings in his start, and Radford took the finale of a three-game Big South set from Gardner-Webb, 10-4 on Sunday.

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern rallied from two late inning deficits and Kristin Kellher’s two-out walk-off single in the ninth gave the Buccaneers (30-24, 12-9 Big South) a 4-3 win over Radford in nine innings as the teams played their final regular season contests Sunday afternoon from Buccaneer Field.

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Behind a late inning rally and a complete game from junior Jackie Jenkins (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee), Radford Softball claimed its fourth straight Big South regular season title with a 4-1 win over Charleston Southern in game one of its doubleheader at Buccaneer Field.

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb’s four-run fifth was the difference, keyed by Dusty Quattlebaum’s two-run double, in an 8-2 win over Radford on Saturday afternoon.
