RU's Olinger Tabbed Big South Scholar-Athlete Of The Year

RU-Highlanders-LogoCHARLOTTE, N.C. – Fresh off his conference title in the 400m hurdles, Radford senior Brett Olinger was named 2012 Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season.  Aimee Veatch also garnered a spot on the all-academic team, announced Monday by the league office.

A 3.97 student in Business Management, Olinger captured his second straight scholar-athlete of the year honor, as he was the recipient during the indoor season, as well.

With this award, Olinger added to his impressive collection of academic awards.  Last year, Olinger was a two-time all-academic selection and went on to earn Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honors and later went on to became a USTFCCCA Academic All-American.

Olinger won his second straight outdoor conference title with a time of 53.24 on Saturday.

For the second straight outdoor season, Veatch earned a spot on the all-academic squad.  She is coming off a fourth-place showing in the hammer throw at the conference championships this past weekend.
