Austin Leads RU Women's Golf On Day 1 Of Fighting Camel Classic

rp primary austin-20121009-1BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Alexandra Austin fired consistent rounds of 78 and 79 to tie for 25th after day one of the Fighting Camel Classic played at the par 72, 6,026-yard Keith Hills Country Club. The Radford women's golf team is ninth entering Tuesday's final round.

 
Behind Austin, who carded six birdies Monday, is Hayley Hammond. The Mooresville, N.C. native is tied for 30th at 159 (81-78). Paige Reese is in 48th place with a two-round ledger of 166 (89-77), while Kirsty Condon is tied for 51st place at 168 (85-83). Katie Parrott finished the first day with a 168 (88-80) and is tied for 51st as well.
 
Tournament host Campbell is two shots clear of second-place Old Dominion. The Camels fired a 592 (294-298), while the Monarchs carded a 594 (297-297). Campbell is led by overnight leader Kaylin Yost, who logged a 2-under 142 (73-69) and is three shots ahead of Longwood's Amanda Steinhagan.
 
The final round gets underway Tuesday with a 9:00 a.m. start.
