Following a three-home run, eight-RBI week, Radford’s Hope Creasy (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg) was tabbed the Big South Choice Hotels Softball Player of the Week.
In five contests, Creasy batted .462 (6-13) with a double, three home runs, eight RBI and three runs scored. She also slugged 1.231 and recorded a .500 on base percentage in leading Radford to three wins last week.
At the USF Under Armour Showcase, the senior outfielder hit a home run in each of the final three games, including three-run blasts against Middle Tennessee State and Central Michigan to go along with a solo shot against Indiana.
Her long ball against Middle Tennessee State broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth, propelling the Highlanders to a 5-2 victory. In the tournament finale against Indiana, Creasy’s fifth inning round tripper broke up a no-hitter and ignited a Radford comeback, as the Highlanders scored five runs in the following inning to take a 6-4 victory.
For the tournament, she batted .625 with three home runs, three runs scored and eight RBI.
Radford returns to the field for its home and Big South opener on March 18 against Liberty. First pitch of the twinbill from RU Softball Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
