Virginia Tech Women's Basketball Adds Ugoka

VT LogoVirginia Tech women’s basketball head coach Dennis Wolff announces the signing of Uju Ugoka to a national letter of intent for the 2012-13 academic year. The junior college transfer joins four student-athletes that previously signed.

“Uju is the type of impact player that every program is looking for,” said Wolff. “As good a player as she is, her style of play, personality and charisma will also help raise the bar for our team.”

Ugoka, a 6-1 forward most recently played at Gulf Coast State where she was named the Conference Player of the Year, earned first team All-America honors and was a top-3 finalist for National JUCO Player of the Year. She averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.

Prior to her time in Florida, the Lagos, Nigeria native competed at Grayson County College. She was a Conference Player of the Year and named first team All-America. Ugoka averaged 18 points, nine rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

Ugoka joins fall signees Alex Kiss-Rusk, Alexis Lloyd and Lauren Evans as well as spring signee Taijah Campbell.
