Virginia Episcopal jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as the Bishops ran away with a 54-33 non-district boys' basketball win over William Fleming in the Roy Stanley Memorial Shootout Saturday at the Salem Civic Center.
The Bishops (12-3), who are coached by Roanoke native and former UVA star Curtis Staples, jumped out to a 30-17 halftime lead. Things didn't get any better for the Colonels (13-9) in the second half, as VES continued to dominate to head back to Lynchburg with the 21-point victory.
Ifeanyl Onyekana led VES with a game-high 16 points. Luke Vasic and Anthony Swan scored 12 points apiece.
Raheem Caldwell paced William Fleming with 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.
