The Blacksburg Baseball Association will play host to the 2012 District 3 Dixie O-Zone (Baseball Tournament, as seven teams vie to represent District 3 in the state tournament. The games start this Saturday afternoon at Blacksburg’s JC Field (behind the Blacksburg Aquatic Center) on Patrick Henry Drive and conclude with the championship game on Wednesday morning, July 4.
Teams competing in the five-day double-elimination tournament include Patrick County, Christiansburg, Pulaski County West, Pulaski County East. Radford, host Blacksburg and defending district champion Montgomery County.
Action gets underway at high noon on Saturday when Patrick County takes on Christiansburg. The two Pulaski County teams will battle it out at 2 p.m., followed by Montgomery County and Radford at 4 p.m.
On Sunday, the winner of the Montgomery County-Radford contest meets host Blacksburg at 2 p.m. The loser of the Patrick County-Christiansburg game meets the loser of the Pulaski County East-Pulaski County West at 4 p.m., while the two winners close out the day with a 6 p.m. encounter.
Monday's game will be at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., while Tuesday's games star at 5 and 7 p.m. The Championship game is slated for 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
The winner of the tournament advances to the state tournament on July 13 in Amherst.
