Radford and Montgomery County Open Dixie Ozone Tournament With Wins

Day One of the 2010 Dixie Ozone District 3 Tournament at Motor Mile Park saw Radford and Montgomery County open with big wins.

 
Game #1: Radford 13, Pulaski County East 3

Radford would strike first in the opening game and jump to a quick 5-0 lead in the first.  Lukas Tuosto would reach on a walk, steal second and third would score on an error.  Singles by Eli Straw, Heath Grant, Dontae Billings and doubles by Desmar Connor and Wes Parcell would account for the other four runs.  The score would stay there until the fourth when Radford would plate another 8 runs.  The inning was highlighted by Landon Armentrout's 2 RBI single, a 2 RBI single by Billings and a 2 RBI double by Heath Grant.
 
Pulaski County East would rally for three runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Noah Whitlock, Tanner Dotson and Jake Turpin would account for the three runs.  The game would end after the fourth due to the 10-run rule.
 
Radford advances the 2 PM game on Saturday, Pulaski County East plays again at 12 PM on Saturday.

 
Game #2: Montgomery County 22, Pulaski County West 5

Much like Radford, Montgomery County would strike first scoring 3 in the first, 7 in the second and 2 in the third to take an early 12-0 lead.  Pulaski County West would score all their runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Gavin Croteau, Vann Prince, James Sutherland, Sean Paul Croteau and Ryan Manuel would all come around to score.
 
After going scoreless in the fourth, Montgomery would add one in the fifth and 9 in the sixth to make the final 22-5.  All twelve batters in the Montgomery County line up would get at least one hit, highlighted by Mitchell Jennings going 4-5 with two RBIs and four runs scored.  Trenton Harding would go 3-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored,  Zach Rutledge would go 2-4 with five RBIs, Wesley Helms and Cole Epperly would each score three runs apiece.
 
Montgomery County advances to meet Radford at 2 PM on Saturday, Pulaski County West meets Pulaski County East at 12 PM
 
Day Two of the Dixie Ozone features three games beginning at 10 AM at Motor Mile Park.  Christiansburg and Blacksburg both get started in the tournament plus PC East and PC West meet in an elimination game, followed by Montgomery and Radford.  Admission is only $3 for adults, $2 for kids 7-12 and kids 6 and under free.
