The Roanoke Star U15 Boys Elite walked away with the championship hardware from the Atlanta Cup last weekend. They had unbelievable success imposing the Roanoke Star possession style of soccer on all their opponents which resulted in outscoring their opponents 13 goals to six throughout the three-day affair. They tallied a 4-0-1 record for weekend.
Coach John White said “We had a very successful long weekend in Atlanta by playing quality teams from Georgia. I was very pleased with the quality of soccer that we played and how we were able to breakdown our opponents. I am looking forward to getting started with VCCL and State Cup play over the next few weeks.”
This team fields 2 Regional ODP pool players along with multiple State ODP players.
Now in its 33rd year, the Atlanta Cup has become one of the premier tournaments in the country. The tournament is one of the biggest and most competitive three-day tournaments in the United States offering multiple levels of competition for both boys and girls u10-u19.
In 2010 the Atlanta Cup hosted 650+ teams and this year hosted over 800+ teams from across the country.
