Regional Racing Scene Heats Up For The Fourth Of July Week

As the heat outdoors comes on strong, the heat of battle at regional race tracks should hit a fever pitch beginning Saturday June 30th at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA.

Twin 100-lap races for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Cars highlight the evening. Deac McCaskill, the points leader at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC is expected to join the fray at the .416 mile oval. It will be McCaskill’s first ever race at MMS, as he chases the national title for weekly racers under the NASCAR umbrella.

The action will continue Tuesday July 3rd when South Boston Speedway hosts a mid-summer long distance race. 200-laps are on tap for the Late Model Stock Cars. The winner of that race will take home a cool $5,000 first place pay out. Langley Speedway favorite CE Falk, who is right in the thick of the national title race with McCaskill, is expected to join South Boston points leader Matt Bowling, Peyton Sellers and many others in this Independence Day Eve battle.

Independence Day finds another great night of racing scheduled at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC. The Rusty Harpe Memorial race will feature another 200-lap, big pay out race for the Late Model Stock Cars. The winner of this affair will pocket $5,000, just like the South Boston event the day before. Both South Boston and Caraway will have fireworks at the end of both nights of racing.

July 7th finds another 200-lap, $5,000 to win Late Model Stock Car race at Southern National Speedway in Kenly, NC. A lot of heavy hitters in the division are expected to make their way to eastern North Carolina for this big race.

As of press time, Lee Pulliam of Semora, NC is the only driver that has expressed intentions to run all four of the races. Pulliam is eighth in national points with 7 wins split at two tracks, Motor Mile and South Boston.

There is a little bit of everything out there for the regional race fan at the above mentioned venues for the entire July 4th holiday week. Hit the road and support your favorite regional short track!
