Michael McGuire continued to impress in the K&N Pro Series East, albeit doing so running a limited schedule in 2012, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday September 22nd.
The Vinton, VA driver, a sophomore at William Byrd High School, qualified his mount in eleventh position during qualifying on Friday. It was the sixteen year old, third generation driver’s first time on a track of one mile in length.
With 100-laps to be contested in the race, Michael was looking for a solid run in his Wood’s Towing and Transportation, Black’s Tire Service Toyota Camry. The driver delivered, racing in the top ten the first half of the event. He was running in ninth as the field was slowed at lap fifty for a mandatory ten minute break.
It was go time after the break, and the high school student battled tough. When the checkered flag flew, Michael had secured his third top-ten finish in as many starts, with a tenth. Three top tens in three starts are quite an accomplishment for the young driver and his part-time, family owned team.
Michael and the team are tentatively scheduled to practice their NASCAR Late Model Stock Car at Martinsville Speedway on Wednesday October 3rd in preparation for the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 to be held Sunday October 21st.
