The Christiansburg Dept of Parks and Recreation is currently taking registrations for its Fly Fishing Clinic and a Youth Basketball Free-for-All.

Youth Basketball Free-for-All (Saturday February 25, 9:30am) – This competition is for ages 5-14. We will have a hot-shot competition as well as a ball handling competition for ages 5-8. They will be split into ages 5/6 and ages 7/8. Fees are $10 town resident and $15.00 non-resident. For ages 9-14, we are adding a 1 on 1 competition to the other competitions. Fees are $20 town resident and $25 non-resident. These ages will be split into groups of ages 9/10, 11/12, and 13/14. 1^st and 2^nd awards for all competitions within age groups will be presented at the end. Registration ends February 17.

Fly Fishing Clinic (Saturday March 3, 1-5pm)  – This clinic will be taught by VT professor of entomology Stephen Hiner. It will cover the history of the sport, an equipment overview, casting basics and a brief synopsis on fly tying. Hiner has fly fished for over 40 years and fished in 9 different states. Come out and join us as we learn about one of the nations oldest outdoor sports. Fees are $20 Town residents and $25.00 for non-residents. Registration ends February 25.
