In a Board of Supervisors meeting last week, Roanoke County was presented with a $15,000 check for infrastructure improvements at Camp Roanoke, courtesy of the Roanoke Valley U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Unit and Marine Corps League Detachment 426.

This donation marks the 16th year of a partnership that has to date raised over $103,000 for Camp Roanoke and other Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism projects.

The funds were raised as part of the annual Marine Corps Mud Run held September 17, 2011 at Green Hill Park. This event is the primary local fundraiser for the Toys For Tots program, with over 1,800 participants this year.
