HB 947 (Tebow Bill) Defeated In Senate Education Committee

VHSL-LogoCHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia High School League (VHSL) announced Thursday that the Senate Education and Health Committee failed to report (defeated) the homeschool bill – HB 947 – by a vote of 7-8.

“On behalf of the 313 VHSL member schools, we are pleased that a majority of the committee acknowledged the integrity of the League’s eligibility standards,” said VHSL Executive Director Ken Tilley. “Participation in scholastic sports and activities is a privilege that students earn by meeting all requirements that have been set at the state and local levels.”

The Virginia High School League is an alliance of Virginia's public schools that promotes education, leadership, sportsmanship, character and citizenship for students by establishing and maintaining high standards for school activities and competitions.
