In a battle of county rivals, the Cavaliers claimed an exciting 2-1 non-district softball win over James River in eight innings Monday evening in Daleville. It was the season-opener for both teams.

Lindsay Cuba had two hits and two RBIs, including the game winner in the bottom of the eighth to give the Cavaliers the victory.

The Knights committed four errors in the loss.

Samantha  Barton got the win on the mound for Lord Botetourt (1-0),  scattering five hits hits and striking out six. 

Haley Shotwell took the loss for James River (0-1). She allowed five hits and struck out six.
