Lord Botetourt opened its cross country season Tuesday afternoon, as both the boys and girls team swept Glenvar and Hidden Valley in a tri-meet in Daleville.

In the boys race, Lord Botetourt won with 16 points, Hidden Valley was second with 45 points, and Glenvar in third with 116.

In the girls race, the Cavaliers won with 23 points, Glenvar was second with 37 points, and Hidden Valley didn't run enough of their girls squad to be able to score.

"It was extremely hot, but the athletes persevered and pushed through the meet," said Lord Botetourt coach Peter Walton.
