Lord Botetourt took over the top spot in the Blue Ridge District, as the Cavaliers defeated previously unbeaten Staunton River 61-56 in girls' basketball action Friday night in overtime at Moneta.

The Cavaliers (12-3, 3-0 BRD), who led 26-14 at the break, saw the Golden Eagles (6-6, 2-1 BRD) come back in the second half to tie the game at 46-46 to send it to overtime.  Lord Botetourt, who made 9-of-11 free throws in the OT period, managed to pull away with the exciting five-point win.

Meaghan Catron led Lord Botetourt with a game-high19 points. Emily Wampler tossed in 17 points and Jade Lewis finished with 16 points.

Shanisha Robinson paced Staunton River with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Brie Holdren contributed 16 points
