lb 1RESNorthside continued Blue Ridge District play Friday, entertaining Lord Botetourt in Roanoke. In the end, the Vikings won 3-0.

Both teams were very quiet through 3 ½ innings with both pitchers controlling the batters. In the bottom of the 4th, the Vikings Taylor Grubb crushed a double to left center. That was followed by a single to left field by Taylor Carter. With runners on second and third the Vikings Carly Altizer laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to score the first Northside run of the game. The next batter for the Vikings, Katelyn Bowden, singled to right center and Taylor Carter was caught trying to sneak home for the 3rd out of the inning.

The Vikings (13-1, 4-0 BRD) went right back to scoring the next inning opening with a single from Kelsey Jarrett. She was sacrificed to second by Kathleen Carr and moved to 3rd on a error by the Cavaliers. Ruthie Williams walked and Jarrett then scored on a wild pitch. Caitlyn Porterfield then put the game away for good with an rbi single to center field scoring Ruthie Williams. Porterfield has been hitting the ball hard all year and it was a matter of time until her hits determined the outcome of the game.

Lord Botetourt (6-8, 1-4 BRD) only got two runners to second on an error and a wild pitch. The Vikings pitchers Ruthie Williams (5 Innings) and Jessica Younts (2 Inning) continued to make a good duo and held the Cavaliers in check most of the game.
