Vikings Stop Titans

Northside-Vikings-LogoA diving catch by Aishia Wiley ended a Hidden Valley rally, as Northside claimed an exciting 2-1 non-district softball win Wednesday afternoon in Roanoke.

In the bottom of the first, Hidden Valley's Brooks singled up the middle, Kelsey Crotty sacrificed her to second and Luckay drove the run in with a single up the middle to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third, Northside's Cara Hoopes doubled up the middle, Kathleen Carr singled up the middle to drive in Hoopes and Kelsey Jarrett had a deep double to left field driving in Carr to make it 2-1, Vikings.

In the bottom of fourth, the Titans tried to rally, McDow singled to center. Williams flied to center for what looked like a single, but Northside center fielder Aishia Wiley made a great diving catch on the fly ball ending the inning.

Northside's Lauren Boitnott came on in relief of Kelsey Jarrett in the fifth and struck out six of the next nine batters.

Kelsey Jarret picked up the win for Northside. She gave one run on three hits, walking one and striking out four. Lauren Boitnott struck out six batters in relief.

Kelsey Crotty was tagged with the loss for Hidden Valley. She gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out seven, while walking none.
