Northside opened its boys basketball season with a 46-36 non-district win over Blacksburg Friday night in Roanoke.

The Vikings (1-0) took a 17-8 lead after the opening quarter and increased their advantage to 26-15 at the half. They would continue to control the tempo in the second half in claiming the victory.

Michael Ayares led Blacksburg (1-1) with 10 points.

Todd Dunbar led Northside with a game-high 14 points and Adam Hardister tallied 12 points.
