It took an extra eight minutes to decide this one, as Northside claimed a 63-57 double-overtime win against Hidden Valley in non-district boys' basketball action in Roanoke Saturday night.
The Titans (8-10), clinging to a slim 27-26 halftime lead, saw the Vikings (11-7) who still trailed by one, 34-33, at the end of the third quarter to stay within striking distance going into the final quarter. It was back and forth throughout the fourth quarter until Hidden Valley's Malik Williams nailed a three-pointer with 15 seconds left to send this one into overtime at 51-all.
In the first OT period, both teams knocked down five points apiece to keep the game tied at 56-56 and sending it into another OT period. The Vikings outscored the Titans 7-1 in the second OT to claim the nail-biting 63-57 home win.
Daniel Rowe led Hidden Valley with 18 points. Dylan Hodson scored 13 points, while Austin Beecher and Malik Williams added 11 points each.
Todd Dunbar led Northside with 12 points and 17rebounds. Chance Hall had 12 points, and Todd Crowder and Adam Hardister tossed in 11 points apiece.
