Rockbridge County jumped out to an early lead, as the Wildcats defeated rival Parry McCluer 45-36 in non-district girls' basketball action Thursday night in Lexington.
The Wildcats (4-5) raced out to a 16-4 lead after the opening quarter and increased their advantage to 27-15 at the break. Rockbridge continued to pull away, despite a fourth quarter rally by the Fighting Blues (0-7), to earn the nine-point win.
Logan Staton led Parry McCluer with 13 points.
Lauren Rowsey led Rockbridge County with a game-high 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and a steal.
