It will be a rebuilding season in Moneta, as Staunton River only returns two starters heading into Blue Ridge District volleyball action in 2010.

Returning off of last year's 11-10 team, are seniors Hannah Owens and Moira Guzi, along with sophomore Brianna Holdren.

"We only have two returning starters, as all six of our starters from last year graduated," said coach Rich Northrup, who is starting his ninth season with the Golden Eagles.

Newcomers to the varsity program include senior Morgan Linkous, juniors Jewell McRoy and Abigail Moran, along with sophomores Jill Ferguson and Addie Tuck.

"This team moves on the court because of their small size and they are motivated," noted the coach when asked about the team's strengths this season. As for any weaknesses, he replied, "Lack of experience at the varsity level."
