Liberty used a strong third quarter to pull away from Staunton River, 58-54, in non-district girls basketball action Wednesday night in Bedford.
Trailing 31-27 at the half, the Minutemen (1-1) outscored the Golden Eages (0-1) 19-7 in the third quarter to take a 46-38 lead into the fourth quarter. Liberty continued to control the tempo in the final quarter to claim its first win of the season.
Shaniesha Robinson led Staunton River with a game-high 27 points and Brianna Holdren finished with 12 points.
Mikalah Jones paced Liberty with 26 points.
