William Byrd started Monday with high hopes and high expectations, as they arrived at Harrisonburg High School for the Region III singles and doubles tournament.  Brennan Escobar was there to defend his 2009 Regional Singles Title, and teammate Joseph Davis would join him in morning quarterfinal singles play. Escobar and Trevor Perdue were then scheduled to play a noon quarterfinal doubles match. 

The Terrier's hosted the Harrisonburg Blue Streaks Tuesday evening in a Region III semifinal boys tennis tournament, with the winner advancing to today's Region III final against E. C. Glass. Riding an 11-match win streak, Byrd came into the evening with great confidence. Harrisonburg's tradition of good tennis would put the Terriers to the test. When it was over, the Terriers winning streak came to an end, as the Blue Streaks won 5-1.

The Blue Ridge District boys tennis tournament concluded Friday evening with the singles and doubles championships. William Byrd's Brennan Escobar won the singles title and then teamed up with Trevor Perdue to claim the doubles crown.

William Byrd continued to dominate in the Blue Ridge District boys tennis tournament Thursday afternoon at Alleghany, as they made it an all Terriers' affair in today's singles championship match. Byrd also placed two teams in the doubles semifinals, which will also be contested this afternoon.

The William Byrd Terriers returned to Alleghany Wednesday afternoon for the Blue Ridge District boys tennis team finals.  Alleghany awaited the Terriers after dispatching Lord Botetourt in the semifinals.  A match between the #1 seeded Terriers and the #2 seeded Mountaineers would decide the Blue Ridge District Tournament Champion.  In the end, the Terriers would claim the tournament title by a 5-1 margin.

At Alleghany Tuesday afternoon, #1-seeded William Byrd and #4-seeded Staunton River dodged the rain and squared off in the semifinal round of the Blue Ridge District boys tennis tournament. When it was all said and done, the Terriers claimed a 5-0 victory.

Kevin Tuck will become the new boys basketball coach at William Byrd High School, replacing the retiring David Culicerto.

Practice started back in late February with drills designed to promote repetition.  Hit 50 serves. Get 20 forehands in, then 20 backhands.  Come to the net, split step, volley.  Repeat as Blue Ridge District Champions. From the moment the Terrier roster was finalized, a second consecutive district title was the focus, and with a 7-2 home victory over Staunton River Friday evening, that goal was realized. 

Jessica Mahoney twirled a one-hitter and Jamie Green knocked in the winning run, as William Byrd claimed a 2-1 non-district softball win over Glenvar in eight innings Wednesday evening in Vinton.
