Behind a game-high 33 points from Jake Mankin, William Byrd earned its first district win of the season, as they defeated Lord Botetourt 64-51 in Blue Rudge District boys action Saturday night in Daleville.
The Terriers (5-8, 1-1 BRD) would race out to a 12-9 first quarter lead and increase their advantage to 36-25 at the half. William Byrd would continue to control the tempo in the third quarter, as they pulled out to a 47-36 advantage. The Cavaliers (1-11, 0-2 BRD) would stay within striking striking distance, but could nver get a run together, as the Terriers picked up their first district win of the season, by keeping the Cavs winless in district play, 64-51.
In addition to Mankin's 33 points, Michael Hammond tossed in 17 points.
Dalton Hargroves led Lord Botetourt with 17 points and Justin Cox ccontributed 15 points.
