The Lady Terriers held off a fourth quarter rally by the Mountaineers, as they claimed their first Blue Ridge District win of the season, with a 53-45 victory Saturday night in Low Moor.
William Byrd (8-8, 1-2 BRD) would take a 10-6 lead after the opening eight minutes and increase its advantage to 25-12 at the half. The Terriers would continue to control the tempo in the third quarter, as they took a 38-22 lead into the fourth quarter. Alleghany (2-14, 0-4 BRD) would outscore Byrd 23-15 in the final quarter. However, the Terriers would ead back home with their first district win by a 53-45 margin.
Sammi Webster led William Byrd with a game-high 22 points and Brittany Maddox finished with 16 points.
Kristen Burton paced Alleghany with 11 points and Esther Allman added 10 points.
