Terriers Beat Vikings

William-Byrd-Terriers-LogoIn a pitcher's dual, the Terriers pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth inning, to claim a hard-fought 1-0 Blue Ridge District win over the Vikings Tuesday night in Vinton.

With the international tie-breaker rule in place and a runner on second, William Byrd's Sam White was bunted to third and scored the winning run on Lindsay's Brown slap single over the pitcher.

Northside's (10-2, 0-2 BRD) Lauren Boitnott went five innings, giving up no runs on two hits, walking two and striking out seven. Kelsey Jarrett, who was charged with the loss, pitched three innings, giving up one run on one hit and striking out two.

Jessica Mahoney picked up the win for William Byrd. She gave up no runs on three hits and struck out 15 batters.
