Jessica Mahoney twirled a one-hitter and Jamie Green knocked in the winning run, as William Byrd claimed a 2-1 non-district softball win over Glenvar in eight innings Wednesday evening in Vinton.

With the score tied at 1-1 in the bottomm of the eighth, Green nailed an RBI double that drove home Rachel Guilliams with the winning run and propel the Terriers (13-3) to the exciting 2-1 victory.

Green finished the evening with a 3-for-4 showing at the plate.

Mahoney picked up the win inside the circle, as she gave up one run on one hit and fanned 15 batters.
