Practice started back in late February with drills designed to promote repetition. Hit 50 serves. Get 20 forehands in, then 20 backhands. Come to the net, split step, volley. Repeat as Blue Ridge District Champions. From the moment the Terrier roster was finalized, a second consecutive district title was the focus, and with a 7-2 home victory over Staunton River Friday evening, that goal was realized.
Brennan Escobar, Joseph Davis, Jim Fisher, and Bryce Martin scored singles victories, while the teams of Escobar and Trevor Perdue, Davis and Fisher, and Martin and Will Trent prevailed in doubles. With their eighth straight triumph, the Terriers move to 10-5 overall and 7-0 in the Blue Ridge District.
William Byrd secured the top seed in the Blue Ridge District tournament and a #1 seed in the Region III tournament.
