At Alleghany Tuesday afternoon, #1-seeded William Byrd and #4-seeded Staunton River dodged the rain and squared off in the semifinal round of the Blue Ridge District boys tennis tournament. When it was all said and done, the Terriers claimed a 5-0 victory.
Brennan Escobar, Joseph Davis, Jim Fisher, and Will Trent won their singles matches convincingly in straight sets. Bryce Martin won a hard-fought three-set match to clinch the 5-0 victory. Trevor Perdue completed a sweep of the singles with a come from behind three-set victory.
Byrd now advances to the BRD finals today against the winner of the Lord Botetourt-Alleghany match.
On Thursday and Friday, Brennan Escobar and Joseph Davis will represent the Terriers in the Blue Ridge District Singles Tournament. The #1 doubles team of Brennan Escobar and Trevor Perdue and the #2 doubles team of Joseph Davis and Jim Fisher will compete in the Blue Ridge District Doubles Tournament.
