The Terriers broke out to an early lead, as they romped past the Cougars, 40-6, in non-district football action Friday night in Stuart.
William Byrd (3-3) took a 21-0 lead in the opening quarter behind a 6-yard run from Simeon Horseman, a 3-yard run by Jake Barton and a 57-yard gallop from Horseman.
In the second quarter, a 6-yard run Horsemann and a 74-yard punt return by Joe Bartson allowed the Terriers to a take a 34-0 halftime lead.
After a scoreless third quarter, Patrick County (0-6) scored on a 38-yard scamper by Jacob Gunter in the fourth quarter. William Byrd would tack on a 6-yard run by Darryl Preston to make the final 40-6.
Simeon Horseman led William Byrd with 138 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns.
