A 24-yard field goal by Michael Hawks as time expired, allowed George Wythe to claim a hard-fought 10-7 win over Radford in non-district football action Friday night in Wytheville.
The Maroons (3-0) took an early 7-0 lead when Alex Willis called his own number and scored from a yard-out with 2:47 on the clock. The Bobcats (1-1) came right back on their next possession to tie the game at 7-7 when Hunter Griffitts galloped 40-yards with 1:00 left in the opening quarter.
After a scoreless second and third quarter, as well as most of the fourth, George Wythe was finally able to move the ball late in the fourth quarter, thus setting up the game winning field goal.
