RADFORD, Va. – Bland County’s tandem of Grace Sarver and Kirby Mustard claimed the Group A Girl’s doubles championship Saturday afternoon at the VHSL Spring Jubilee hosted by Radford University.

Sarver, a freshman, and Mustard defeated Gate City’s Tori Bowen and Morgan Taylor 6-1, 6-3 for their first state doubles championship. For Sarver it was her second state title of the weekend after winning the singles’ championship on Thursday.

"They [Gate City] kept feeding us overhead's and we just kep pounding them," said an excited Mustard after the match.

Sarver, who just won her first-ever Group A singles title Friday, said "This feels good and knowing that I have three more years to be playing makes me even more excited."
