Bland County placed three players in double-figures, as the Bears claimed a 46-38 win over Northwood in the opening round of the Region C, Div. 1 girls' basketball tournament Wednesday night in Saltviile.

Bland County (14-10) meets Covington at 7:45 p.m. Friday night in the semifinals at Eastern Montgomery High School.

The Bears jumped out to a 28-18 halftime lead and continued to hold the upper-hand throughout the second half, en route to the eight-point win.
Kristin Dean led Northwood (9-15) with 13 points.

Jessie Blessing led Bland County with a game-high 15 points. Alyssa Harris scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Amber Eaton added 10 points.
