Despite having four players in double-figures, Auburn still fell 75-65 to Fort Chiswell in non-district boys' basketball action Tuesday night in Riner.
The Eagles, (3-3) who led 15-11 after the opening quarter, saw the Pioneers (7-1) come back in the second quarter to take a slim 31-29 halftime advantage. Fort Chiswell opened up the third quarter with a 16-2 run and by the time the quarter ended, held a 57-40 lead going into the final quarter. Auburn mounted a rally in the fourth quarter. However, it wasn't enough, as the Pioneers head home with a 10-point road win.
Nathaniel Worrell led Fort Chiswell with game-high 22 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Brett Mabry tallied 14 points and Corey Gravely added 12 points.
Jake Shelburne paced Auburn with 14 points. Dustin Simpkins tallied11 points, Levi Bower had 10 points, while Jessie Rutledge finished with 10 points and eight assists.
