Galax scored more points in the first quarter, than the Craig County team did the entire game, as the Maroon Tide cruised to a lopsided 91-34 victory in non-district boys' basketball action Friday night in New Castle.

Galax took cotrol of this one in the first quarter, as they outscored the Rockets (1-2) 35-9. Things slowed down a bit in the second quarter, as the Maroon Tide extended their advantage to a comfortable 47-16 margin at the half. Galax turned up the heat in the third quarter, as they outscored their hosts 28-8, to take a commanding 75-24 lead into the fourth quarter. When the final eight minutes were over, the Maroon Tide headed home with a 91-34 victory

Justin Hash led Galax with a game-high 23 points. Deion George tossed in 16 points and Brock Cox finished with 10 points.

Derek Persinger paced Craig County with 13 points.
