The Maroon Tide jumped out to an early lead and never let up, as they rolled to a lopsided 65-32 non-district girls basketball win over the Indians Monday night in Galax.
Galax (5-2) jumped out to an early 18-8 lead and increased their advantage to 30-16 at the half. The Maroon Tide would put this one away in the third quarter, as they outscored Rural Retreat (1-6) 17-2 in the third quarter to take a 47-18 lead into the final quarter. The Maroon Tide would continue to pull away in the final stanza, as they claimed the lopsided 65-32 victory.
Kayla Patton led Rural Retreat with 14 points.
Bailey Shumate led Galax with a game-high 17 points, including five from outside the arc. Burgandy Bobbitt tossed in 12 points and Allison White finished with 10 points.
