Deion George and Devae Goins both recorded double-doubles, in helping lead Galax to an 81-57 win over Fort Chiswell in Mountain Empire District boys basketball action Wednesday night in Galax.

The Maroon Tide (9-2, 2-1 MED) jumped out to a 16-9 lead after the opening quarter. Galax would start pulling away in the second quarter, as they outscored Fort Chiswell (3-7, 1-1 MED), 28-16, to take a 44-25 halftime advantage. The Pioneers did outscore the Maroon Tide 20-18 in the third quarter, but still trailed 62-45 heading into the fourth quarter. Galax would control the tempo in the final eight minutes, as they pulled away for the 81-57 victory.

Michael Dunford led Fort Chiswell with 16 points and Jared Smith tossed in 12 points.

Justin Hash led Galax with a game-high 25 points. Deion George contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Devae Goins notched 11 points and 10 rebounds.
