Despite having four players score in double-digits, Narrows still came up short, as they fell to 71-65 to Galax in a Mountain Empire District boys basketball contest Wednesday night in Galax.
The Green Wave (10-7, 2-3 MED) took a 20-18 lead after the first quarter, only to see the Maroon Tide (13-4, 5-2) battle back in the second quarter to take a slim 33-31 halftime advantage. Galax would start to pull away in the second half, as they outscored Narrows, 38-34, to claim the 71-65 victory.
Narrows connected on 10 three-pointers, while Galax posted eight from outside the arc.
Ben Thompson led Narrows with 17 points. Mark Martin contributed 15 points, Alex Taylor scored 13 points and Brock Lusk added 12 points.
Deion George led Galax with a game-high 20 points. Justin Hatch tallied 19 points and Devae Goins finished with 18 points.
