Destiny Shupe scattered six hits and struck out 14 batters, as she helped lead Grayson County to an 8-2 victory over Fort Chiswell in the championship game of the Mountain Empire District softball tournament Thursday evening.
Autumn Pierce led the Blue Devils (16-5) with two hits and an RBI, while Kayla Spurlin added two hits.
Amber Chrisley led the Pioneers with two hits and a run scored.
Grayson County will host James River, a 20-1 winner over Bath County, in the opening round of the Region C softball tournament on Tuesday. Fort Chiswell hits the road to Bath County on the same day.
