Grayson County's string of 18 Mountain Empire District baseball championships came to an end Saturday afternoon in Bastian, as Fort Chiswell claimed the tournament title with a 5-2 victory.
The Pioneers (18-4) would score four runs in the first inning. The big blows were RBI singles by Colton Ayers and Gabe Ayers, along with a two-run single by Parker Mabe.
Mike Dunford picked up the win for Fort Chiswell, after hurling three strong innings in relief.
Jake Blizzard led the Blue Devils (16-5) with three hits, while Nick Perkins had two RBIs.
