Poor shooting and turnovers proved to be the downfall for Narrows, as Grayson County claimed the Mountain Empire District regular-season boys title with a 57-39 win Tuesday night in Narrows.
The Blue Devils took a 10-7 lead after the opening quarter and increased their advantage to 21-17 at the half. The Green Wave would outscore Grayson County 17-13 in the third quarter to tie the game at 34-34 heaading into the crucial fourth quarter. The Blue Devils would take control in the final quarter, as they outscored Narrows 23-5, to pull away with the 57-39 road victory.
In the game, Narrows turned the ball over 27 times and shot a frigid 25%.
Mark Martin led Narrows with 12 points.
Bubba Bowen paced Grayson County with a game-high 14 points. Mike Rodgers tossed in 13 points, Tyler Rutherford tallied 11 points and Steven Eller finished with 10 points.
