The Green Wave would roll out to an early lead, and then hold on down the stretch, as they escaped with a 58-54 win over the Chargers in the semifinals of the Region C, Division 2 girls basketball semifinals Thursday night in Wytheville.
Narrows (20-4) meets fellow MED district rival Bland County (21-2) in the championship game Saturday night at George Wythe. Game time is 6 p.m. Both teams will advance to next week's state quarterfinals.
The Green Wave staked out to a 19-7 lead after the opening quarter. The Chargers (17-4) would outscore Narrows, 15-13, in the second quarter to cut their deficit to 32-22 at the break. Bath County would stay within striking distance in the third quarter, as they chipped down the Narrows lead to eight, 51-43, going into the pivotal fourth quarter. Despite being outscored, 11-7, in the fourth quarter, Narrows would hang on for the 58-54 victory.
Cameron Snidow led Narrows with 15 points. Spencer Lindsey tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds, Alicia Weatherly had 11 points and Katasha Davis posted 10 points.
