Control problems proved to be the difference in this one, as Bland County walked to a 12-8 win over host Narrows, in the opening round of the Mountain Empire District baseball tournament Monday evening.

Bland County now advances to the semifinals and will play Fort Chiswell at 5 p.m. today at Dillow Memorial Field in Bastian.

The Narrows (12-11) pitching staff gave up 14 walks, which accounted for five runs being walked in.

Jake Craft, Ty Wilson and Caleb Johnston all hit home runs for the Green Wave.

Jacob Lambert led the Bears with three hits and Cody Blessing contributed two hits.
