Patrick County opened up Piedmont District play by dropping a 13-3 baseball decision to host Bassett Tuesday afternoon.

Patrick County dropped a non-district wrestling match with Mt. Airy Wednesday night, 55-18.

Patrick County hosted North Stokes in a dual meet in Stuart Tuesday night, with the Cougars defeating the Vikings 54-17.

The Patrick County wrestling team took part in the 2012 Tiger Invitational at Hargrave Military Academy Saturday and came away with third place.

On Monday night Patrick County hosted West Stokes and GW Danville in Stuart for their opening matches of the season. The Cougars ended the night with a 54-30 loss to West Stokes and a 48-36 win over GW Danville.

With only eight players on its roster, the Patrick County girls' basketball team looks to be a top contender for the Piedmont District title this season.

In a battle to the end, Patrick County managed to pull out a 15-25, 27-25, 20-25, 25-14 and 15-13 win over Blacksburg in the quarterfinals of the Region IV volleyball tournament Tuesday night.

TKeyah Hines notched 18 kills and 11 blocks in helping lead Patrick County to a 25-17, 25-13 and 25-21 victory over host Tunstall in the championship game of the Piedmont District volleyball tournament Thursday night.

In the semifinals of the Piedmont District volleyball tournament, Patrick County cruised to a 25-17, 25-10, and 25-9 victory over Magna Vista Wednesday night at Tunstall High School.
