Patrick County won the Piedmont District Golf Tournament by one stroke over regular-season champion Bassett Monday afternoon at the Olde Mill Golf Resort in Laurel Fork.
The Cougars finished with a team score of 328, while Bassett shot a 329. Magna Vista (333) was third, followed by Tunstall (366) and Martinsville (451).
Both Patrick County and Bassett, along with the following individuals, Brandon Grogan (Magna Vista), Dillion Craig (Magna Vista), Andrew Renton (Magna Vista), Tyler Smith (Magna Vista), Logan VanAsch (Tunstall) and Justin Kent (Tunstall) will participate in the Region IV Tournament next Monday morning.
Brandon Grogan of Magna Vista was named the Piedmont District Player of the Year, while Philip Steagall (Patrick County) and Mark Jones (Bassett) were named Co-Coaches of the Year.
The All-Piedmont District Golf Team include: First Team; Brandon Grogan (Magna Vista), Blake Carter (Bassett), Bryan McAlexander (Bassett), Parker Heath (Patrick County), Brian Pendelton (Patrick County) and Will Hutchens (Patrick County).
Second Team:Dillion Craig (Magna Vista), Tyler Weeks (Bassett), Andrew Renton (Magna Vista), Tyler Smith (Magna Vista), Wendell Hutchens (Patrick County) and Justin Kent (Tunstall)
Patrick County will serve as the host school for the Group AA, Region IV Golf Tournament, which starts at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, at Olde Mill Golf Resort in Laurel Fork.
