The Patrick County wrestling team opened up its season with a busy week, as the Cougars competed in a pair of meets.

This past Saturday morning the Cougars travelled to Hargrave Military Academy and had five wrestlers place in the Top 4. Chase Martin at 106 and Dylan Fariss at 220 both earned fourth place finishes, while Ryan Pennington at 132 and DJ Painter at 138 earned second place finishes. Seth King won the tournament at the 195 weight class by pinning Marcus Chase of Hargrave Military Academy after :38 in the second period.

In a tri meet at home against West Stokes and GW Danville Wednesday, the Cougars lost to West Stokes by a score of 54-18 and lost in a tie breaker to GW Danville in their second match of the night 42-42, GW 5 pins, Patrick County 4.
