Covington rushed for 305 yards, as they ran past Craig County, 21-7, in the opening round of the Region C, Division 1 football playoffs Friday night in New Castle.

Covington will travel to Eastern Montgomery next Friday night for a semifinal encounter with the Mustangs.

The Cougars (6-5) took a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter on a 5-yard run by Troy Helton.

In the second quarter, an 8-yard and 3-yard run by Philip Lewis would give Covington a 21-0 halftime advantage.

The Rockets (6-5) avoided the shutout in the third quarter, as Josh Ouelette hit Brenton Christian with a 30-yard scoring strike to make the final 21-7.

Craig County, who had 149 yards of offense, was led by Josh Ouelette, who completed 6-of-23 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Covington, whose 305 yards all came on the ground, was led ny Troy Helton's 176 yards on 24 carries and Philip Lewis' 130 yards on 25 carries.
