Auburn dug itself into an early hole and could never recover, as Craig County claimed a 64-42 non-district boys basketball win Wednesday night in New Castle.

The Rockets (1-0) jumped out to 21-5 lead and held a 32-22 advantage at the half. Craig County started to pull away in the third quarter, as they outscored Auburn 18-8 to take a 50-30 lead. The Rockets continued to pull away in the fourth quarter, as they claimed the 64-42 victory.

Logan Shumaker and Derek Duncan led Auburn with eight points apiece.

Derek Persinger led Craig County with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Tyler Geibner had 12 points.
